Video: Bethel and Weston In Action

I'm not a skilled director yet, but I'll get the hang of it. Meanwhile, here's a bunch of clips from camp action yesterday at Wilton.

As you can see, I'm getting better lighting with the new camera (Canon ZR850), but the quality isn't the best. That's because I'm recording direct to an SD card. I'm going to get some Mini DV tapes though, which should allow for a better quality production, but an unfortunate hissing sound, according to product reviews.

If anyone has a suggestion on how to get rid of that with Windows Movie Maker, please pass the knowledge along...

Video: Bethel Captain Dillon Ochs

Dillon Ochs will be one of three captains of the Bethel Wildcats in 2007. In this video, Ichs, a running back and defensive back, talks about last season's rise, and why he thinks Bethel will be as strong - maybe even stronger - than it was when it went 6-4 last year.

Video: Weston's Nick Figliola Talks About Weston

Meet Nick Figliola, captain of the 2007 Weston Trojans. In this video interview, Figliola talks about what the team has done to get better this off season, and how he thinks his team will do.

Figliola and his teammates are camping at Wilton High School along with Bethel. All three teams run the wing option offense, so it's a natural fit that they train together.

News-Times: Oxford, Nonnewaug Join SWC

Oxford and Nonnewaug have officially joined the South West Conference.

Today's News-Times points out that Nonnewaug is just competing in football and gymnastics, and will remain in the Berkshire League for all other sports. Nonnewaug played football at the JV level last season and went 5-5. The question is - will Nonnewaug be the next Woodland and have instant success on the field, or like Fairfield Ludlowe and struggle through infancy?

The News-Times also points out that Oxford will be known as the Wolverines, and will be only the second team in the state (Griswald being the other) to use that nickname. The paper left out one of it home teams though - Abbott Tech has been the Wolverines at least since my wife went there in the 80s. No varsity football for Oxford yet though, as they just have a freshman and sophomore class.

But the article points out that budget cuts at the new school are already affecting athletics. Right now, no extracurricular activities are budgeted for.

Photo Sale in Full Swing

The crazy photo sale is in full swing until Sept. 1. If it's in my photo gallery - which is pretty much anything I shot in 2006, plus the recently played Hall of Fame Classic, it's marked down.. I only saw a few SWC games this past season, and they were Bunnell vs. Trinity Catholic and Barlow vs. Fairfield Warde.

Click on the above logo to enter the photo site, and then click "Gallery" to choose your games. 4X6s are now $4, 5X7s are now $5, and 8X10s are $10. Get them for your home, or buy them for your dorm room.
