Live From the FC Podcast Available

Thanks again to Matt Levine, Jason Intrieri, and Rob Adams for coming on the Internet radio show today. It appears only the first 30 minutes is archived, so some of the closing comments are going to be missing (lesson learned!). But that includes the thanks to three sponsors: Pamby Motors of Ridgefield, BlueStreak Sports Training, and Elite Passing Academy.

Pretty much we're talking about what you're expecting us to. A lot of FCIAC football. Who is hot, who is on the upswing, etc. Tried to slip in some SWC football here, but the show was stacked with SWC guys. Hopefully next week we'll bring some East of Route 25 flavor to the show (If I can quote Biggo!)

After all, I owe it to the SWC faithful.

Live Action: Trinity Catholic at Immaculate

Here it is, as promised, better late than never. It's video footage of this past Sunday's Trinity Catholic-Immaculate scrimmage.

More to come though. I have some clips on video tape, and this is just the digital stuff. Hopefully soon I'll get that up.

Live From the FC: Finally Debuting Saturday

So if you're up and around at 8 a.m. Saturday, you can click the logo to the left and listen live! Or if you're on a bus heading to a scrimmage, you can listen to the podcast once it's archived.

Tomorrow will be a roundtable discussion about football. My scheduled but unconfirmed guests will be Rob Adams of WGCH AM 1490, Jason Intrieri of WWPT 90.3 FM, and Matt Levine of WSTC1400/WNLK1350 AM and MattLevine.net. I'm sure it'll be a repeat of our dinner last month (thanks again, Jason!), talking about who we think will be the teams and players to watch, and separating the contenders from the pretenders.

We'll go 30 minutes this week so I can get out to some scrimmages (yeah, I'm being selfish!). Next week we'll be shooting for a 1-hour preview show.

Video: David Elser, New Fairfield Quarterback

David Elser is pretty excited right now. The New Fairfield senior quarterback is back for a second season as the starter, but it's a new era for the Rebels offense. The spread has been brought in, and it looked pretty effective against Darien on Wednesday.

More video of the New Fairfield offense in action to come, but for now, here's Elser talking about his new responsibilities under center.

In the Land of Sean Patrick Bowley...

...there is some footage of Bunnell receiver Mike Easley making a big catch against Staples in a scrimmage the other day. Bowley, the lead high school sports writer at the Connecticut Post, was also out at the Masuk-Shelton scrimmage Wednesday, and reports here on both.

Video: New Fairfield's Andy Buchsbaum Speaks

New Fairfield head coach Andy Buchsbaum talks about the upcoming season, including the addition of the spread offense. The spread looked very effective yesterday at Darien, and could cause some SWC coaches a headache or two.

Video: Barlow Captain Dan Mercede

When I make a promise, I keep it. And when I screw up and accidentally delete a video, I'm going to re-shoot it. So here's an update on Barlow, taken before the Falcons took the field for its first scrimmage of the day today.

Video: Immaculate Head Coach Roger Hancock

Immaculate football has fallen on some hard times since the untimely passing of Steve Kaplanis in spring 2005. Sean Mahon did what he could the Mustangs program headed in the right direction, but did not have much luck on the field. Now it's up to Roger Hancock to bring Immaculate back to glory.

In this video, Hancock talks about what kind of stamp he's putting on the program, and how the team has responded to the challenge.

Connecticut Post Blog Back Up and Running

Hopefully you kept up with Connecticut Post's high school sports blog last season. Sean Patrick Bowley does a fine job with that while juggling all the teams he has to cover on a regular basis. His is a thankless job, and more often than not, he is deemed to by the state's football foil. (Want proof? Go there and scroll down to "Seaaaan Pat-rick!" (Bunnell 42, Masuk 27))

The Post caught the video bug, too. And the aforementioned SPB was out at the Trumbull-Stratford scrimmage yesterday trying the camera out. So go there and watch Stratford phenom Torrey Mack in action.

Video: Immaculate Running Back Anthony Biasetti

Believe it or not, Immaculate will be a running team this season. New head coach Roger Hancock is establishing the run. And by the looks of today's scrimmage, an small-but-quick offensive line will spring senior running back Anthony Biasetti often this season.

Biasetti broke free for four runs of 60 or more yards against Trinity Catholic's defense. With a performance like that, the emphasis on the running game makes sense.
